Fees, deposits & slippage

Why the wallet total can be larger than the amount you entered.

Read the quote’s cost breakdown

StonkScout discloses a 0.5% app fee on swaps. Check the current quote for the fee amount, asset, and availability. Route fees affect the quoted amounts; do not add every percentage on the screen together as if each were a separate debit.

Network fee covers signature and priority costs reported for the transaction. Account-creation deposit is a separate SOL amount for accounts the transaction needs to create. The review separates these because a deposit is not the same as a network fee.

Token tax belongs to the token’s transfer mechanism. Price impact estimates the effect of your trade on execution price. Both matter to the economics of a trade, but they are not added again to the wallet total when already reflected in the quote.

Why can a tiny Solana trade look expensive?

Costs do not all scale with your trade amount. An account deposit or priority fee can be large relative to a very small purchase. Compare the separate network fee and account-creation deposit rows before assuming the entire SOL cost is a network charge.

The exact reason depends on the current quote and transaction. Do not use an old screenshot as a fee schedule. Deposits may be recoverable when an eligible account is closed, but StonkScout does not automatically refund them or provide an account-closing tool.

Total debit and proceeds

On a buy, use Total estimated debit to understand the estimated amount leaving the wallet. On a sell, review proceeds after fees and deposits. Some trades involve an input asset plus separate SOL costs, so make sure you have both.

Unknown fees are not zero fees. A sponsored or gasless label applies to the quoted sponsored cost, not a blanket promise that every token tax or route cost disappears. Estimates can differ from final on-chain amounts.

Slippage versus price impact

Price impact describes the quote’s estimated market effect for your amount. Slippage allowance defines how much execution may move within the quote’s limits. They measure different things.

Compare smaller amounts if the quoted impact is high. Increasing slippage simply to force a transaction through can expose you to a worse execution price. Always read the updated minimum received and warnings.
